Gentle Pediatric Sleep Consultant NYC | Erica Shane
"I cannot say enough things about this wonderfully kind and professional person. Erica came into our family as a healing, nurturing, and calming presence. We were new parents with all the anxiety and naivete that comes with the gig, and it was a huge relief every single time Erica would offer her extensive wisdom, and kind energy, always making sure to build our confidence as Mom and Dad. The thing that makes Erica so special is her heart. She is truly empathic, and cared for me as a new mother, just as much as she was caring for our baby. I cannot imagine he would be as loving and trusting as he is now without her early influence. Erica allowed me to have such a happy early experience with our son, and I will forever be deeply grateful to her"
My Gentle Sleep Coaching program is for families who are looking for Gentle Sleep Coping Skills for babies newborn to six months, and Gentle Sleep Coaching Strategies for babies six months and older.
What's the difference between the two programs? Babies under 6 months do not have the maturity to self soothe, and there are a myriad of ways to help your baby sleep (day and night), and to help the parent feel less stressed about the developmental leaps happening and how they affect baby's sleep. Babies 6 months and older can learn to fall asleep without crying-it-out.
My individualized packages come with evidence based, compassionate answers and my commitment to standing by your family until you reach your goals. Your individualized sleep plan will always factor in your child’s temperament, your own parenting philosophies, and your personal family life and circumstances.
Many parents believe they have only two options a) a cry-it-out method or a modified cry-it-out method, or b) a long term bed-sharing and nursing-on-demand-all-night style. You do have more options than these. Whatever your needs, we can a way.
Every parent has different goals: you can choose to hold on to (any number of) feedings at night or omit them altogether; you can continue to room share or transfer the baby to his own room; you can work on routine and bedtime in a way that benefits the child and the entire family unit; and on and on. It's your family and your goals!
My training includes secure attachment theory, basic counseling, infant and child development, sleep science, behavioral modification techniques, postpartum depression, infant reflux issues, sleep apnea, and supporting the breastfeeding & bottle feeding parent. I am a Certified Lactation Counselor and Labor & Postpartum doula since 2002.
